Sky Cycling League

Sky Cycling League is a competitive cycling league in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Mission

To promote and develop cycling in the Kingdom of Lesotho

Vision

To train and educate young talent beyond the realm of sports

Sky Cycling League is inspired by the annual cycling event Lesotho Sky. Founded in 2011 the event has drawn participants from more than 30 countries to Lesotho. Every year the best international and Basotho riders compete in a small field of roughly 100 riders over 6 tough riding days through Lesotho’s mountains. Since 2017 Lesotho Sky has a permanent base camp in Roma, Lesotho. At our community bike shop also known as “Roma Bike Hangar” we train mechanics & guides, teach kids and adults how to ride and host events as well as training camps. Thanks to a generous efforts from Velosolutions and other sponsors, we have access to a world class training facility (also knows as a pump track) right here on our doorstep.

Goals of Sky Cycling League:

1. Identify safe spaces & platforms for cycling to grow
2. Host regular events and expand into all districts in Lesotho
3. Get more children, their families and schools involved
4. Offer skills training in cycling (Lesotho’s first qualified bicycle mechanic based at Roma Bike Hangar)
5. Find the next cycling superstar from Lesotho Feed talent into the African Dream Team (Lesotho’s only professional MTB Team)
6. Our international partners are offering opportunities to talented Basotho riders at the Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifier on 30 March 2019)
7. Launch a cycling academy in Lesotho
