Sky Cycling League

Sky Cycling League is a competitive cycling league in the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Mission

To promote and develop cycling in the Kingdom of Lesotho

Vision

To train and educate young talent beyond the realm of sports

Sky Cycling League is inspired by the annual cycling event Lesotho Sky. Founded in 2011 the event has drawn participants from more than 30 countries to Lesotho. Every year the best international and Basotho riders compete in a small field of roughly 50 riders over 6 tough riding days through Lesotho’s mountains. Since 2017 we operate the “Roma Bike Hangar” where we train mechanics & guides, teach kids and adults how to ride and host events and regular training sessions. Thanks to Velosolutions and other sponsors, we have access to several world class cycling facilities (also knows as a pump tracks) in Lesotho. As of February 2020 Lesotho now has a total of 3 pump tracks (Roma, Maseru, Mantsonyane). It is our goal to mobilise, train and inspire children and youth and develop life skills.

Goals of Sky Cycling League:

1. Identify safe spaces & platforms for cycling to grow
2. Host frequent training sessions with focus on extra-curricular skills development
3. Get more children, youth and schools involved
4. Expand skills training including vocational skills
5. Find the next cycling superstar from Lesotho and feed talent into the African Dream Team
6. Our international partner Velosolutions is offering opportunities to talented Basotho riders at the Red Bull Pump Track World Championship Qualifier on 29 February 2020)
